MSP Strengthens Ties with New School Partners: UP College of Engineering and DLSU

On May 30, 2024, Megawide Foundation partnered wuth UP Diliman’s College of Engineering (UP COE) and the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (UP ERDFI) to provide scholarships to deserving Civil, Mechanical, and Geodetic Engineering Students.

The MOA signing, led by UP ERDFI Executive Director Alfonso A. Aliga Jr. And Megawide Foundation President Tata Saavedra, marked a significant collaboration in forwarding engineering excellence in the Philippines. UP ER DFI has long championed research and student support, and Megawide Foundation is honored to join forces with such institution dedicated to fostering honor, excellence, and service through innovation. 

Present in the signing were Mr. Alfonso A. Aliga Jr., UP ER DFI Executive Director, and Ms. Norika Ishigawa, UP ERDFI Deputy Executive Director, Dr. Maria Antonia Tanchuling, Dean of UP College of Engineering, and Dr. Eric Augustus J. Tingatinga, Professor; Ms. Tata Saavedra, Megawide Foundation President, and Atty. Carmela A. Castro, Megawide Foundation Executive Director. 

Megawide Foundation President Tata Saavedra and DLSU President Br. Bernard Oca FSC led the signing of the agreement between the Foundation and DLSU last June 21, 2024, with Megawide CEO and Foundation Vice Chairperson Engr. Edgar Saavedra and DLSU Advancement and Alumni Relation Executive Director Edwin Reyes as witnesses. Br. Oca thanked Megawide for empowering the scholars, highlightning the impact of partnerships in unlocking opportunities for the youth. Engr. Saavedra, a proud DLSU Alumnus, credited the university for shaping his journey as an engineer and leader.

As the Megawide Scholarship Program (MSP) continues to expand, this partnership reinforces the Foundation’s mission to champion engineering excellence and nurture future leaders, advancing the vision of a First-World Philippines. 

Interviews for the new intake of scholars from our partner schools have now been completed, led by the Foundation team and in collaboration with the HR team and different SBU’s. Registered social workers will also conduct home visitations to further assess the needs and qualifications of the students.
